The Importance of Letting a Professional Repair Your Shower

Not every repair job in our homes can be done as a DIY project because there are difficult ones that needs to be done by a professional. Shower repair can be a complex task that you should not attempt to do by yourself. Depending on where the leak is coming from, the tiles shower will need to be broken down. Only professional plumbers have the knowledge and skills to do these repair jobs.

If there is water running out of a connection between your shower head and the wall, then it might just need a replacement for the shower head. You simply need to remove the shower head and replace it. If the shower handles leaks or when there is moisture behind the wall at the valve, then that is a more complicated shower leak issue.

Don’t ignore any moisture from behind the wall. If there are no damaged on the tiled wall and the pipes and valves can be reached on the other side of the wall, the leak can be repaired from the backside. The problem can easily be located by the professional plumber so as to minimize the damage.

If the wall has been exposed to moisture from behind that has caused the tiles to come loose, they may have to be knocked out and the drywall behind the tile actually replaced. If the studs are wet, then they have to be completely dried before processing. You will need to replace the tiles that have been broken.

When the leak is finally located and the plumber determines what needs to be replaced, either the valve or the pipe itself, removal can be hampered by the age of the valve and the length of time it has been leaking. You cannot easily remove the valve if it has already rusted and has gathered debris and are sticking well. But those in the industry know how to get the pipes loosed.

Water is getting through the wall under your bathtub and running out if you notice water at the base of your tub or shower. This can possibly be due to the fact that there is a crack around the drain of at the bottom of the tub or shower. Replacing a shower pan is not easy. The tub or shower bottom needs to be removed and it requires breaking out additional tiles.

Most often, what makes a plumbing leak difficult has nothing to do with the repair. That is the easy part. What Is difficult is exposing the leaking area and removing the materials for repair. It is very easy to damage more property than necessary during discovery and removal. When you replace original parts, you also need to replace other parts and do more work.
